These homes must meet at least the Livable Housing Australia (LHA) Platinum Level standard, ensuring accessibility throughout both indoor and outdoor areas. External doors and private outdoor spaces must be wheelchair accessible, while bathroom fixtures such as vanities and basins should be usable from either a seated or standing position. In addition, power provisions must be included for the potential automation of doors and blinds. Kitchens should also be designed so that key elements — including sinks, benches, cooktops, and major appliances — can be accessed comfortably from both seated and standing positions, depending on residents’ needs.

High Physical Support dwellings provide a high level of accessibility for people with significant physical impairments who need very high levels of support. Designs also provide adequate space and safety measures to support residents with complex behaviours, along with areas of retreat for other occupants and staff when needed.
